Soccer In Radge Essays (545 words) - RCD Espanyol, Ral Tamudo

Soccer In Radge ALENCIA, Spain (Reuters) -- Espanyol capped its centenary celebrations by winning the Spanish Cup with a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid on Saturday. One of the cheekiest goals seen in Spain all season gave the Barcelona club an ideal start after just two minutes. Atletico goalkeeper Toni Jimenez -- who moved to the club from Espanyol last summer -- saved a shot by Toni Velamazan and was bouncing the ball in front of him, ready to boot it upfield. But then Raul Tamudo nipped in unseen, headed the ball away from Jimenez and beat his former team mate in a sprint across the face of the goal, turning the ball in from an narrow angle out on the left. Sergio Gonzalez hit Espanyol's second goal five minutes from time to ensure the club won its first honor for 60 years Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink pulled one back for Atletico a minute into injury time, and Espanyol endured an anxious couple of minutes as the clocked ticked away, but it was too little too late. Espanyol ecstasy For Espanyol supporters, it brought a huge smile to their faces after a decade of despair. They were relegated twice during the 1990s and even had to sell their ground -- the historic Sarria stadium -- in 1997 to solve a cash crisis. However Espanyol's veteran defender Nando Munoz put the emotions of all those involved with the club into words. This might be the greatest day in the history of Espanyol. This is for all those fans and everyone else who can remember the bad times -- all those dire moments, Nando said. Nando had recovered enough breath to speak to Spanish to reporters because he had been given his marching orders 13 minutes from time after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession while Espanyol fought to contain a second half Atletico comeback. Atletico attack The first half belonged to Espanyol, with Tamudo and Velamazan causing plenty of problems for the Atletico defenders and Moises Arteaga slicing through the middle, but the second period saw Atletico strive for an equalizer. Hasselbaink was a constant threat, although Espanyol defenders did a good job of soaking up the pressure, and his closest efforts came from edge-of-the-area free kicks. After Nando left the field, Espanyol looked briefly in trouble, but both teams ended the match with 10 men after former Spanish international defender Santi Denia lost control completely seven minutes from time. Denia scythed down Manuel Serrano from the rear and then headbutted Toni Velamazan. Sergio's clincher came two minutes later. Tears He controlled a long, speculative, ball forward with his head and then blasted the half-volley past the hapless Jimenez, who left the field inconsolable. Football just isn't fair, Jimenez wailed, with tears streaming down his face. Jimenez was not the only Atletico player to leave the field with moist eyes. The cup final defeat, their second in successive years after losing 3-0 to Valencia last year, brought an end to one of the worst season's in club history. Atletico was relegated and will spend next season in the Spanish second division for the first time since 1934. A damaging government investigation into the club finances also left the club badly demoralized on and off the field. The cup final is likely to be the last match that many players, including Hasselbaink, have in an Atletico jersey, with a massive exodus anticipated. Resonse to a Peom Essay

Resonse to a Peom Essay Resonse to a Peom Essay Either stories or poem, that are constructed differently have their own stories to tell. Basically, the authors are trying to convey their messages and stories by using their own style of characterization, rhythm, and a fictional setting that will be used for their narrative. The beauty of stories and poems are usually generated through the imagination of the readers, which consequently allows them to build their own connection with the literary piece. Through imagination the readers are able to visualize what the author is trying to depict through symbolism, and other descriptive languages. The three literary pieces "The Road Not Taken†, â€Å"A Worn Path†, and â€Å"Used to Live Here Once† are different in terms of writing style, but all share same theme. The main theme suggests that despite the many life journeys we go through and decisions we make in our lifetime, we are still in complete control of how we want it to end. Every piece was able to depict a specific kind of solitary journey. For instance, Robert Frost in his The Road Not Taken was able to provide some hints to his reader that the poem will revolve around someone’s journey. He also used the first person narrative, which personally led me to envision him in his struggles and journey. On the contrary, Welty’s â€Å"A Worn Path† utilized the third person perspective as the word â€Å"she† was consistently used. With that, I was prompted to envision a woman constantly walking without a specific decision, alone. True enough, this vision of mine was confirmed when there was a part in the story where the woman spoke to the animals â€Å"Out of my way, all you foxes, owls, and beetles†. This mere gesture has strongly appealed to me as the solitude of the woman. There was also a mention of the woman walking an uphill path, which I can equate to her struggles with a hard life. Walking an uphill is tough enough, an d considering that the woman in the story is already old, it provokes stronger sympathy from the reader, because it makes the journey tougher. â€Å"Used to Live Here Once† also used the third person narrative, which used â€Å"she†. The same kind of feel was depicted in this story, which is solitude. Some of the lines that suggested solitude in the story were â€Å"She was standing by the river†, and â€Å"â€Å"She came to the worn steps†. While the three pieces evolved on the same theme, it was still presented in distinct ways, especially through the choices that each of the character makes. When plotting a story or poem, the setting is also one of the biggest considerations of an author because it can be a major influence in the kind of engagement that the reader will have with the piece. For example the â€Å"The Road Less Taken†, from the title alone, it already creates the notion that the poetry will deal with an internal conflict, or a resolution of a conflict. The poem started with the line â€Å"Two roads diverged in yellow wood† , at that point, it made me think about my own path choices too. And since the poem was writing in first person, it was relatively easy for me to put myself in the position of the author, and really visualize my own pathway based on his depictions and descriptions in the poem. Moreover, there was a part in the poem where Frost described a specific path as â€Å"where it bent in the undergrowth† and compared it to another path, which he referred to as â€Å"grassy and wanted wear†. Based on these descriptions, the reader gains an impression that although the two paths are physically different, they are still pointing at the same ending. The descriptions also served as the a symbolism for someone’s connection to something that he or she has grown with locally. Poetry are definitely filled with symbolisms since it is one of its features. For example, the color yellow could mean a aging or something that is starting to lose its value. Another interpretation could also be a reference to the character of Dorothy of the â€Å"Wizard of Oz†, because the yellow brick road there signified the beginning

Film studies - Essay Example These films are then presented to the world in their language, as if the film is spoken in English, the audience won’t relate to the same thought process as to what is really being depicted in the film’s native tongue. The foreign film award promotes a sense of awareness of other cultures and practices which differ from Hollywood mainstream practices. Â   To qualify for the award, one of the primary requirements is that the majority of the film is presented in a language other than English although this is not necessarily required to be the language of the country that produced it and must first be released in theatrical format in a country other than the United States. The significance of this is that language has a great deal to do with our perceptions of the world. Word choice is important in any language to convey the nuances of meaning intended by the author. When it is then translated into English for an English-speaking audience, much of this nuance can be lost. According to scholar Benjamin Whorf, language also works internally to shape thoughts and emotions to help us understand our own perception of reality (cited in Kilgour, 1999). By presenting these films in their native (meaning original) language, the Academy is fostering recognition that important thoughts and ideas are pursued in other countries as well as the United States and brings the focus of these films into the mainstream theater audience, who might otherwise have missed them. This is significant when one considers the impact of foreign films such as Life is Beautiful (1998), an Italian film directed by Roberto Benigni. In this film, the director (and star) illustrates the dichotomy between pre and post war Italy as it is seen in the lives of members of one family. The beginning of the film presents a comedic romance between the Jewish Guido and the love of his life, Dora up to a

Creativity and standards task Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Creativity and standards task - Essay Example It also looks at companies and organizations relevant to the profession and furthering career in such organizations. The network engineer profession entails internetworking of services in the telecommunication industry. It has the obligation of developing both hardware and software requirements for computers. Its main concern is the creation, design and the management of computer networks in the telecommunications industry. The profession also entails the development of communication network topologies to enhance communication between various devices. All these obligations and responsibilities are carried out by a network administrator. A network engineer handles the computers in any organization by networking them and other devices so that there is communication in the organization via the computers. The network engineer also has the obligation of configuring the devices and designing an appropriate network topology for the organization. Standards organisations and their standards S tandards are crucial in networking because they set a common platform for all manufacturers of networking products. It ensures uniformity in the making of these products and that they carry out this activity in a common way. It also makes interconnection of networks for the various vendors easy and simple. Standardization of networking has the ability to kill or break these products (Bernstein, 2004, p.6). Many vendors today are reluctant to support any new technology that just comes up unless there is a standard base from which it is coming from. They want to be sure that there can be assurance and protection for their hardware and software in case of any failure. This makes it impossible for vendors to release products that are in accordance to the set standards which are acceptable in the market. Therefore, standards ensure that any product released for use in the market is of good quality and that meets the set standards. There are many organizations that have the responsibility of setting these standards in the field of networking. They act as the source of these standards and they also give references. Some of these organizations devote themselves to setting the standards so that they ensure uniformity and compatibility of networking in the region and in the world (Grayson, 2011, p.83). This research paper seeks to look at five of these organizations and the standards they have set in this field. Some of these standards organization include the Organization of Standardization and many others that are discussed in this paper. 1. The Organization of Standardization (ISO) The Organization of Standardization (ISO) has its basis in Paris but has many other branches in other countries all over the world. It is a leading organization in setting of standards in the world. For instance its branch in the UK is known as British Standards Institution, while the one in the United States is ANSI. It sets standards in other areas related to networking like in education al institutions and research centres which deal with networking. Some of the standards that it sets include those that aim at establishing global standards in the communication and information sector. These standards are important to the future carrier of network engineering is that they promote open networking to enhance communication in all environments. They define standards for

Feasibility Study for Fast Food Restaurant

Feasibility Study for Fast Food Restaurant I would first like to thank Mrs Sumaira Hamid for giving us the opportunity to conduct this project which has enabled me to understand fast food restaurants more closely and thus it defiantly increases my knowledge about the subject. I would also like to thank my friends, as without their cooperation this project would not have been completed. Executive summary This project is purely based on economic and financial analysis. Here I have conducted a feasibility study for a fast food restaurant. I have tried to cover all the aspects, economically related and financially related to the proposed project. There are two main parts in this project. first one is the pre-feasibility study and second is feasibility study. In the first part I have analyzed the scenario in the sector and market potential. In the second part I have tried to cover the financially related aspects of the project. Scrotal analysis Fast food industry is very popular in Pakistan, as many international fast food chains like K.F.C, McDonalds, Pizza-hut, Subway, etc are based here. These international corporations cater to high income segment and modify their menu according to the taste of their potential consumer. These international chains are not the only source of fast food in the country. Many local chains (AFC, Bryani express, cock and bull, Lahore brost) has been developed over time, to give a good competition to these international chains by lowering their prices and hence increasing their sales by catering middle income and low income level consumers. The behavioral change in food consumption among people has attracted many international organizations. Fast food industry in Pakistan insures a promising return. It has shown impressive progress in the past, and will continue in the future. The presence of international organization operating in the region is a clear shade of investment opportunity in the country. The Market of fast food industry in Pakistan has a room for many more. With the little help of government, much more can be done attract more international organization, or to bring up the local ones. Presence of SME Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a pivotal role in giving necessary impetus to  employment generation, GDP growth and poverty alleviation and hence have been recognized  increasingly all over the world. Although the performance of SME sector in Pakistan is quite encouraging, however due to some inherent and structural weaknesses and problems, its access to credit from the formal sector has been inadequate. The analysis of quality of loan portfolio reveals that, the quality of SME loans has improved over the year in this sector. List of some popular fast food restaurants in Pakistan McDonalds Pizza Hut KFC Subway Nandos Al Baik Al-Najam Fried Chicken [50] Arizona Grill Chicken Cottage Ginos Mr. Burger PapaSallis Pizza AW Papa Johns Pizza Express Pizza Next Dominos Dunkin Donuts Investment opportunity As the value of time in Pakistan is increasing day by day due to hectic work schedule, people are trying to save their time from any mean they can, and thus are becoming increasingly service oriented. The value of consumer time, as well as the demand for consistent, high-quality food products, will continue to shape the fast food industry. Fast food is becoming an increasingly significant part of the young generations diet. The role of convenience in this dietary shift cannot be over-emphasized, and the future growth of the rest of the food service industry will be driven in large part by its ability to find new ways to save consumers time. Another important fact is the increase in food consumption due to increase in population. Considering these factors, investment in fast food restaurant is a good opportunity There are some critical important factors, which if acted upon properly will provide a promising investment opportunity. Identify goals and ways to measure them. Adjustments according to change in consumer habits. Implementation system and ensure consistency of operation. Points of difference that enables them to dominant their market nitch. Consistency of quality and service, and operating systems and management procedure. Menu selection and pricing. The specific location within your target area. Conduct market survey. In depth investigation Pakistan, currently ranked as 6th in terms of total population, is characterized by a high  Population growth rate of 1.9% (Pakistan Economic Survey 2005) and is set to take the top  Three positions in terms of total population with already 153.4 Million people registered in  2005. With this, the per capita income has increased to US$ 736 while the productive age  group (15 to 64) years is said to take the major chunk of population (67% of total  population) by 2020. The growth rate in food consumption is also augmented by the rapid increase in the  employment rate for males / female population aging between 20 to 29 years (fast food  goers) hence the greater income contribution to the overall income generated is expected to  be higher. The growth in Risks There are certain risks involved in this sector. Some of them are stated below. Increase in pieces of raw material. Political instability Change of trend in consumption pattern. Required machinery and other equipment The quality of food is highly affected by the technology used in its production. The machinery required for production of fast food products is easily available in international market as well as in local market. It is up to the owner weather to purchase expensive branded ones or the cheaper ones. This decision depends on the question how much importance the owner gives to the quality of food being served to the consumer?. As fast food industry is growing day by day, so is the technology being used in it. Branded equipment (first hand and second hand) is available in the market. The minimum delivery time required is three months, if ordered through an internet vendor. There are also re-conditioned machines available in the market. Some outlets, before closing their business sell their machinery at low cost. Maintenance of machinery is very important for maximum quality and long life of the equipment. The machine requires routine cleaning, maintenance and annual service. We will use new machinery with latest technology in our project. This would help us in producing good quality food products, high efficiency, low labor and operating cost and would reduce human errors. The machinery required for the plant is easily available in local market, so all the purchases will be done locally. Local purchases would help us in clams of default piece, would prevent us from high transportation costs and government taxes and would reduce our time to start the project. Raw material The raw material required for the production in a fast food restaurant is easily available locally. In every city there is a local market from where these material are easily available at cheap prices. Thus the raw material for the proposed project will be purchased from the city local market .the list of raw material is given bellow with their nit prices, total units required and total cost. Items Quantity Per unit or per kilogram price Total price Eggs 100 50 5,000 Sugar 70 30 2,100 Spices 250 300 75,000 Flour for batter 100 70 7,000 Chicken 1000 115 115,000 Meat 400 250 100,000 Beef 400 150 60,000 Cheese 300 250 75,000 Oil 400 100 40,000 Sauces 250 200 50,000 Corn 50 80 4,000 Carrot 50 15 750 Cabbage 60 20 1,200 Tomatoes 70 24 1,680 Onion 100 18 1,8000 Lettuce 60 15 900 Total 539,430 Human resource Hiring right employee for the right job dose not only contributes to your sales but also creates a good image in the sight of consumer. There are several categories of personnel in the restaurant business: manager, cooks, servers and cleaners. The manager is the most important part of any organization. The manager for the proposed project should be skilled, should know about the area, supplies buying sources and most importantly should know about the buying behaviors of customers. At initial stage of a restaurant five people are required to carry out the work at kitchen. Another important part of a restaurant is servers. The servers will have the most interaction with customers, so they need to make a favorable impression, work well under pressure and meeting the demands for customers. Land requirement for the project The outlet of a fast food restaurant should be in such place where the traffic of its potential costumer is maximum. In the distribution of land for different areas in a restaurant, it is recommended that the largest part should be donated to the dining hall and second preference should be given to kitchen. The land requirement in our project is 4475 sq.ft. The area should be populated and should have proper utilities and facilities. The construction cost totally depends on the size of land the amount of work to be done on it. In our project the construction requirement in different parts of the restaurant is different. For example construction cost for kids playing area would be lower than construction cost for waiting area, as less has to be done in waiting area as compared to dining area. Location The location chosen for the required project is JOHER TOWN MAIN BUALIVORD.The traffic of potential costumer is maximum there .the construction of micro shopping mall and Pakistan trade center would bring a huge wave of potential costumers Rent The rent at Johet Town Main Boulevard for a double storied building is 125,000 per month. Plant capacity The area required for this restaurant is 4500 sq feet. The seating arraignment is for 100 people. There are 25 dieing tables, and four people can sit on one table. The total management in the restaurant comprises of 23 people. Ten people can be seated at the waiting lung. Hence in total, the restaurant can shelter up-to 130 to 140 at a time. Utilities Assumptions Rent increases by 5% after every year. Salaries increase by 2% after every year. Residual value is zero. Capital utilization differs in four years, and remains constant afterwards. Debt-equity ratio is 50-50. Straight-line method is used for depreciation. Current interest rate is 20%.. Tax rate is 20%.. 150 people visit the restaurant every day. Average purchase amounts RS.120. Do-ability of the project The proposed project can show high returns. the project perfectly sets to the changing patterns of the country. If the gets good reorganization among its potential costumers, the project can show amazing result, and can prove a good investment for the investor. Comparative advantage As the demand for fast-food increases, the prices increase with it. The only comparative advantage is that, the owner will offer low prices to the costumers. This would increase its sales. ACCABILITY OF THE PROJECT As shown, that the NPVs and IRRs calculated above are negative in most of the cases, except the resource statement. This shows that the project is not acceptable. On the other hand if the revenues assumed above are increased, the returns will increase, and thus will end up with positive NPV. This can be done by proper marketing of the restaurant.

Increasing Student Achievement through Preventing School Violence Essay

Increasing Student Achievement through Preventing School Violence Introduction School violence is any type of violence, whether it is a simple threat on another student or a school shooting, that happens in the school environment. Student achievement is the efforts made by the student to work hard in the classroom. The purpose of this research paper is to examine how school violence impacts student achievement. It would seem that school violence would have a negative impact on student achievement. If this is the case then we need to do what we can to prevent violence in schools. Technology can be used to help control school violence. Information on School Violence Violence in our schools has become an increasing problem. Within the United States alone, there have been approximately twenty-two school shootings since 1978 (Cruz, 2002, p. 53-54). Eighteen of the twenty-two occurred during the 1990’s. It has been approximated that â€Å"a school crime occurs every six seconds† (Day, 1996, p. 9). We must ask ourselves why school violence has flourished. When we try to answer this question, we tend to blame society. Violence in the media seems to be the number one cause for violence in the school. However, society and media are not the only things to blame. There are so many reasons for why school violence has become increasingly more popular, but there is one thing that can be said for sure is that our students need to be able to learn and work in a safe environment. The need to create â€Å"a school environment that is free of violence and drugs has become a public priority† (Flannery, 2000). People need to pull together as a community and help in the fight against school violence. We need to give students... ...zine/vault/A2857.cfm 24.
